JKM Campaign Against Atrocities On Women
A seminar was organised by Jan Kalyaan Morcha at district level all over the country in Feb., 2009 for motivating the society against atrocities on women and exploitation and trafficking of children.
It has been observed by Jan Kalyaan Morcha that honour killings have emerged as a serious problem now a days for women in rural areas and caste panchayats, operating without any legal sanctions are the main reasons behind this.
JKM decided and instructed the volunteers to curb all forms of violence against women and children to generate awareness among the general public in their local area, about inequality and atrocities on women, raggings and acid attacks on young women, female foeticide, gender sensitization, trafficking of women and rights of the girl child.
The seminars were attended by the office bearers of several voluntary organisations and social thinkers of that locality. They expressed their views and supported the initiatives of JKM on the topic of combating atrocities on women and children.
Jan Kalyaan For National Integration
The National integeration is of vital importance in the changing social structure of the nation which is poised on the brink of an economic boom and yet faces many problems on the social front. Indian society has multiple layers of social division on the basis of religion, creed, caste, gender and class. In our ideal to create a classless welfare state, we have to strive towards creating equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of their social division.
Our visionary founding fathers and the architects of the Indian constitution
created a flawless blue print for the reconstruction of the nation. More than six
decades after independence, the country has made long strides in the fields of education, literacy, health care and infrastructure, but social development is the front which needs greatest attention at this point of time. The progress of the nation depends upon equitable economic grooth as opposed to the growth of certain sections while others are left behind. If India is to become a global super power we will have to focus attention upon those sections that are most in need of socio-economic empowerment. National integration is promoted by the feeling of oneness in every citizen’s heart. This depends upon pride in the nation and confidence in the national leaders.
JKM On Child Protection
Children are the future of the country. Being an extremely vulnerable population, their protection assumes great significance for their healthy development. However, not seen as a major issue earlier it has surfaced as a matter of major concern for policy makers and even public at large. The united Nations convention on child rights, by declaring right to protection as an issue of child rights has provided some attention and obligation on the signatory states though much remains to be realized. Going by literal meaning, child protection would bring under its ambit numerous categories of children whose security is at stake, reeling in situations of neglect, maltreatment,
injury, trafficking, sexual and physical abuse of all kinds, pornography, corporal
punishment, torture, exploitation, violence and degrading treatment waiting for
immediate attention and protection.
