ABOUT FOUNDER PRESIDENT

Shri Ashok Chaudhary is a noted social activist who advises organizations that work to create awareness among people on sensitive issues such as AIDS, women welfare, child welfare, child education, women empowerment, child labor, vocational education, etc. His vision and strong sense of responsibility towards society gave birth to Jan Kalyan Morcha, focused on the cause of human development and empowerment of underprivileged sections of society. Jan Kalyan Morcha has been involved in various social events and activities for the welfare of physically and mentally disabled children across India.
Shri Ashok Chaudhary was born in Village Daulatpur, Hazipur, in the Vaishali district of Bihar. His parents, Shri Shambhunath Chaudhary and Smt. Jaleswari Devi, were a great source of inspiration for him. He imbibed strong social values from his father, who himself was a freedom fighter and contributed immensely to society at a very young age during the 1971 movement. Through the J.P. Movement, working under Shri Jaiprakash Narayan, he gained deep insight into social work and his responsibilities towards society.
He also chose the path of politics to accomplish his goal of empowering the underprivileged. During the 1977 Lok Sabha elections, he campaigned for Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, which proved to be decisive in his favour. After Shri Jaiprakash Narayan, it was Shri Ram Vilas Paswan who greatly influenced Mr. Chaudhary’s thoughts. He conveyed his message to the masses through a monthly political magazine, Nyaya Chakra, which was published over a long period. As the National President of Jan Kalyan Morcha, Mr. Chaudhary has led several awareness campaigns throughout the country. The prominent ones include protests against corruption at Sansad Bhavan, protests at the U.S. Embassy against the attacks by the United States on Afghanistan, organizing relief camps for Gujarat earthquake victims, relief work for the Uphaar Cinema tragedy, voter awareness programs during elections, and organizing relief camps for tsunami victims by distributing blankets, clothes, and food to the poor.

Mr. Chaudhary also organized cultural programs to create awareness among youth regarding the social problems faced by the nation. In a charitable award function, physically and mentally disabled children were given recognition for their outstanding achievements in various fields, with Shri Ram Vilas Paswan as the Chief Guest.

Further, Shri Chaudhary was also involved in an investigation team of the Government of India. In 1996, he was included in the fact-finding team constituted by the then CJI Shri B.M. Tarkunde to investigate the attack on reporters during Shri A.B. Vajpayee’s press conference in Dehradun.

In 2005, Jan Kalyan Morcha went international and formed Indo-Nepal Jan Kalyan, an international NGO aimed at the welfare of especially backward people of both nations. Since 2009, Jan Kalyan Morcha has been recognized as a “Mother NGO,” an organization that affiliates other NGOs and helps them communicate with the government. It provides a platform for other NGOs to put forward their problems and issues affecting the nation.
